Two of my paintings from "Shattered Illusions" will be exhibited.
The whole can always be broken up into its component parts in order to come to a deeper understanding. Just like white light; the rainbow is evidence of our inability to solely trust our naked eye.
It is through destruction and evolution of our fantasies that the truth of life emerges.
The Shattered Illusions series infuses color and texture to create a twinkling gem-like effect. Repetitive patterns generate a variety of enigmas.
This whimsical expression manifests the relationship of how colors dance with each other. We are their audience.
Opening Reception: Saturday, October 8th, 3 – 6 pm
Three of my colorful abstract photographs on metal will be exhibited
Judith is extremely curious and inspired by the endless varieties of shell colors, patterns and textures. Using various techniques, her abstract photographs transform the natural beauty of a seashell into something much more phantasmagorical.
This paradoxical creation of an illusion and matrix of light reflections mixed with living and industrial materials proposes challenge on how our mind interacts with its stimulus. By playing with the elements of light, we create distortions fostering new perspectives to question our traditional way of evaluating what we see. Forbidden and closed off, shows the way people approach reality can be narrow and forbidden therefore we have to redirect ourselves to see the truth through interaction. By looking into this structure, one can see an array of colors and a kaleidoscope of imagery depending on the angle of the viewer, yet all these perceptions can be unified into a shared view of a collective consciousness, not unlike the world we live in.
Humans are in a constant state of change, often becoming skeptical about our growth process. This confusion often becomes severely daunting; many people plunge into intense struggle and self-destruction. The process of reflecting and discovering the light in the midst of darkness creates rebirth into directions more meaningful. By incorporating our histories into our present, our lives begin to take shape and make sense again, strengthening our personal resolutions. If you are strong enough to have a fighting spirit and find your internal fire, you can move forward into self-enlightenment.
These little universes hold a miniature landscape consisting of organic materials and treasured souvenirs, which creates an enchanted environment. The transparency of the glass walls enables the viewer to see the many layers of the environment, interactions with the elements and their dance with each other.
As the caretaker for each of these little universes, I experience satisfaction while nurturing my creations as they fulfill their destiny.
Mother nature provides for me a serene escape into the natural life, which has the healing power to soothe my mind and nourish my soul. This Zen promotes a more altruistic environment contrasting with the egotism that my surroundings typically demand.
In using bamboo as a material, I strive to create an atmosphere, which embraces the romance of bamboo.
I hope to make people aware of the many benefits of bamboo and the notion that we can preserve our natural world through the use of this glorious plant. In addition, I would like the viewers to experience the happiness and peace I feel in this setting. Ushering people into this atmosphere, I hope to share the mystique beauty of a bamboo forest.
